Getting Started
Yes, we see this often. If you’ve tried other options without success, it usually means the real driver of the problem wasn’t clearly identified. A thorough assessment and an honest conversation can make a meaningful difference.
In-person clients use the Hume Health Scale to track weight, lean mass, and body fat over time. App-based clients track workouts and progress in the app. Either way, your plan is adjusted as you get stronger.
Most golfers notice improved mobility and reduced stiffness within the first few weeks. Measurable swing speed gains typically develop over 6 to 12 weeks of consistent training. The timeline varies based on your starting point and how consistently you train.
We work with a wide range of people, from those dealing with pain or recovering from an injury to golfers, athletes, active adults, and people who simply want to get stronger and stay mobile. You don’t have to be an athlete to benefit from a performance-minded approach.

Cost and Insurance
We are out of network with most insurance companies so we do not take health insurance BUT we can provide you with a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. We do accept HSA/FSA as well. The traditional insurance model does not allow us to treat you the way that we feel is the best nor does it allow us to spend the time with you that we feel is appropriate. Many insurance companies mandate continually changing provider rules, payments, services covered, and dictate number of visits allowed leading to rush patient visits and less than optimal care. These mandated continuous changes are costly and force us to spend more time and resources on compliance with insurance rules rather than your patient care. By being out of network with insurance companies, we are able to spend more quality 1-on-1 time with patients and provide you with the services we think are best, not based on what is covered by insurance. We believe our treatment model is the best treatment for your long term success and not merely treating pain episode to pain episode.
A superbill is a medical receipt that we will provide you when you pay upfront with us after your session. You can use this receipt as a way to get reimbursed directly through your insurance depending on your benefits.
We don’t bill insurance directly. We accept HSA and FSA payments and provide superbills you can submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
Sessions run $75 to $150, depending on session length and whether you buy a package. App-based training is $199/mo, as an add-on or a standalone program.
A focused adjustment visit is $59, a 30-minute session is $109, and a 60-minute session is $200, with no insurance billing and no procedure-based upcharges. HSA and FSA cards are accepted, and we provide superbills for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
Dry needling is folded into our time-based sessions instead of being billed as its own procedure. Most dry needling visits run $109 for 30 minutes or $200 for 60 minutes, depending on what else your session includes. HSA and FSA cards are accepted.
Sessions run $75 to $150, depending on session length and whether you buy a package. Every program starts with the TPI movement screen, so you are training on your own data from day one rather than a template.
Dry needling is included in your session at Mathias Health + Performance under time-based pricing. We don’t bill insurance directly, but we provide a superbill you can submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement. HSA and FSA payments are accepted.
Questions, answered
Chiropractic & Care
Yes. We treat low back pain with chiropractic adjustments, dry needling, and movement-based rehab, tailored to what’s driving your specific pain.
Yes, in many cases. Disc herniations and bulges often respond well to conservative care, including gentle chiropractic adjustments, dry needling, and movement-based rehab. Dr. Mathias will assess your situation and tell you whether conservative treatment is appropriate or whether imaging or a referral is the right next step.
We see it all the time. Many of our patients come in with pain they’ve been dealing with for months or even years. We look at the bigger picture, including movement, strength, mobility, and activity, to determine how we can best help.
Yes. We assess what’s irritating the nerve, then use adjustments, dry needling, and rehab to reduce pain and rebuild your tolerance for movement.
Your activity recommendations depend on what you’re being treated for. In many cases, movement and exercise are an important part of the process, and we’ll help determine what makes sense for you.
Persistent tightness can have multiple contributing factors. Rather than simply treating the tight area repeatedly, we look at how you move and what may be contributing to the problem.
Yes, though chronic issues require a different approach than acute ones. Long-standing problems often involve movement compensations and nervous system adaptations that need to be addressed systematically. Progress is usually slower, but meaningful improvement is possible.
Adjustments are designed to be controlled and comfortable. You may experience brief pressure or mild soreness afterward, but your treatment is always adapted to your comfort level.
No referral is required for any service at Mathias Health + Performance. You can book online or call (614) 881-2535 to schedule your first visit.
No. Treatment is based on what you need at that point in your recovery or training. Some visits may involve more hands-on work, while others may focus more heavily on movement or strength.
Book online anytime through the scheduling link on the website, or call (614) 881-2535. Booking takes about two minutes, and your first visit includes consultation, assessment, and treatment.
There’s meaningful overlap, but a few key differences. At Mathias Health + Performance, rehabilitation is integrated with chiropractic care, dry needling, and strength and conditioning under one provider. You don’t move between different practitioners for different pieces of the plan. Dr. Mathias also builds every program from a fresh movement assessment rather than a condition-specific protocol.
We don’t set a treatment plan before you arrive. We build each visit around what you need that day, at one clear time-based price with no procedure-based upcharges.
It depends on the injury, how long it’s been present, and what you’re trying to return to. Acute issues may resolve in a handful of sessions. More complex or chronic conditions typically take longer. You’ll get an honest estimate at your first visit, and the plan is reassessed regularly.
The amount of hands-on treatment depends on what you’re experiencing and what is appropriate for your visit. It may be incorporated into a broader treatment session rather than used as a standalone service.
First visits typically run 45 to 60 minutes, which covers consultation, movement assessment, and treatment.
There isn’t a predetermined schedule that applies to everyone. The frequency of care depends on your symptoms, goals, response to treatment, and what you need to get back to doing.
It’s not too late, but chronic pain needs a different approach than acute pain. Long-standing issues often involve nervous system changes and built-up compensations. We take all of that into account and build the plan accordingly.
No. While both involve hands-on work with muscles and soft tissues, muscle release therapy at Mathias is used as part of a treatment and movement strategy rather than primarily for relaxation.
A first visit starts with a full conversation about your history and goals, followed by a movement assessment and same-day treatment. You’ll leave with a clear understanding of what’s driving your symptoms and a realistic plan.
Hands-on soft tissue work that releases tension, breaks up muscle guarding, and restores mobility. It can anchor a visit on its own or be added to any session, and it pairs well with adjustments and dry needling.
Wear comfortable clothing you can move in. Bring any existing imaging, like X-rays or an MRI, if you have it. No referral is required.
If an adjustment is appropriate for you, it will be part of your treatment on the first visit. Your first visit includes a consultation and movement assessment so we can determine what approach makes the most sense.
You may feel pressure, stretching, or some temporary tenderness depending on the area being treated. Treatment is always adjusted to your comfort level.
It may, but it doesn’t have to. The sound is not the goal of an adjustment.
Questions, answered
Dry Needling
Most patients feel a brief dull ache or twitch response when the needle reaches the target tissue. Some describe it as a deep pressure sensation. Significant pain is uncommon. Dr. Mathias adjusts needle depth and placement based on your feedback throughout the session.
It’s a reasonable concern. The needles used in dry needling are very thin, much finer than a typical injection needle, and no fluid is involved. Dr. Mathias always talks through what to expect before starting, and treatment is adjusted based on your comfort level.
No. Dry needling is based on Western anatomy and targets specific muscles and joints from a clinical assessment, not traditional acupuncture points.
Dry needling is commonly used for low back and neck pain, tennis and golfer’s elbow, TMJ discomfort, plantar fasciitis, sciatica-type nerve pain, and tension headaches or migraines. At your first visit we assess whether it fits your specific problem.
Dry needling places a thin needle into tight or painful muscle. Your body senses it as a signal and sends healing activity to settle the tissue, reduce muscle guarding, and calm nerve sensitivity.
Questions, answered
Golf
Yes. Golfer’s elbow is a tendon overuse injury that responds well to conservative care, including dry needling, load management, and progressive strengthening. Dr. Mathias treats both the local tissue and the contributing factors from the wrist, shoulder, and neck.
If pain is limiting you, the better starting point is usually Golf Injury care, which resolves the issue first and then builds into performance. If the pain is minor, Dr. Mathias can often address it inside the fitness program. He’ll tell you which path fits at your first visit.
Not at all. Golf performance is one focus, not the only one. We treat people in pain, active adults, busy parents, and athletes of all kinds.
No. Many golfers come in purely for performance. If pain is part of the picture, we address it alongside the underlying movement issues.
It depends on the injury and how long it’s been present. Acute issues like a muscle strain often respond within a few weeks of structured treatment. Tendon problems and chronic overuse injuries tend to take longer. You’ll get an honest timeline at your first visit.
Absolutely. Golf fitness improves how your body moves and how well it tolerates the physical demands of the game. That’s valuable whether you’re playing twice a week or twice a month. The benefits also carry over into daily life, since the mobility and strength work directly supports how you move off the course.
If you have pain, start here. Pain is often a sign that your body isn’t physically capable of executing the swing your coach is asking for. Fixing the body problem first makes swing coaching more effective and more lasting.
Yes. He is TPI Certified at Medical and Fitness Level 2 through the Titleist Performance Institute, covering both golf injury rehabilitation and golf performance training.
Not necessarily. In many cases, you can continue playing with some modifications while treatment is ongoing. Dr. Mathias will give you clear guidance on what to modify and when it’s appropriate to return to full play.
A TPI screen is a physical movement assessment designed specifically for golfers. It evaluates your body’s mobility and strength against the physical demands of the golf swing, identifying the specific limitations affecting your game or contributing to pain. It’s a useful starting point for anyone with golf-related pain or swing issues that haven’t responded to technique work alone.
Golf fitness builds the mobility, strength, and power your swing needs. In Dublin, Ohio, we screen how you move and train the gaps that limit your game.
Location. Golfer’s elbow is pain on the inside of the elbow, tennis elbow on the outside. Both are tendon overload injuries, both show up in golfers, and both respond well to conservative care: load management, dry needling, and progressive strengthening.
TPI stands for the Titleist Performance Institute. Dr. Mathias is TPI Certified at Medical and Fitness Level 2, so he can address both golf injury and performance within the same program.
Distance loss is rarely just a swing problem. As hip and upper back mobility decline, the swing compensates and clubhead speed drops. A targeted mobility and strength program can recapture a meaningful portion of that distance.
Golf is a high-rotation, high-repetition sport. Back pain after a round usually means the tissue isn’t conditioned for the load, or a mobility restriction is forcing the lower back to compensate. A TPI screen can identify exactly where the breakdown is happening.
Questions, answered
Training
Yes, and it often is. A 30- or 60-minute session can include chiropractic adjustments, dry needling, and rehab exercise at one time-based price. Dr. Mathias determines the best combination based on what you need that day.

Yes. Bone responds to load. Resistance training is one of the most effective ways to build and maintain bone density, especially around menopause.
Not always. Many conditions can be assessed and treated clinically without imaging. If imaging would change the treatment approach, Dr. Mathias will let you know and help you determine the appropriate next step.
No. Personal training is available on its own. Because Dr. Mathias is also a chiropractor, any pain or movement limitation that comes up can be handled inside your training plan, but you do not need an injury or a chiropractic plan to start.
Yes. Training programs are available through a custom app for clients who prefer to work independently or between visits.
Yes. He completed an internship with Dr. Kremchek, the Cincinnati Reds team surgeon, and maintains referral relationships with orthopedic and neurosurgical specialists in the Columbus area.
It depends on the condition and how long it’s been present. Acute issues often respond within one to three sessions. Chronic problems may take longer. You’ll get an honest assessment at your first visit.
It depends on your issue and how long it’s been there. We take a less-is-more approach and give you an honest timeline at your first visit.
No. Strength training builds or maintains meaningful muscle at any age. The goal is to protect your joints, your bone density, and your ability to do the things that matter to you.
Yes, and it is one of the most valuable times to train. Bone responds to load, and resistance training helps counter the bone density and muscle loss that accelerate around menopause. Your program starts where you are and builds gradually.
We start with a consultation and a body composition check, then build a plan of strength, mobility, and conditioning. Sessions are available in person or through a training app.
Your trainer is also a chiropractor and a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist. That means your program is built with a clinical understanding of how your body moves and where it tends to break down, and any pain that shows up is treated inside the same plan instead of sending you somewhere else.
He completed his undergraduate degree at Capital University and earned his Doctor of Chiropractic from Logan University, graduating magna cum laude from both.
Muscle helps regulate blood sugar, metabolism, bone density, and joint stability. Because you lose muscle each decade after 30, building it now protects your future.
Yes, and that’s what sets us apart. Because Dr. Mathias is both a chiropractor and a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, he can address the pain and the underlying weakness during your care instead of sending you in two directions.
Yes. Dr. Mathias has experience with rehab after rotator cuff repair, ACL and meniscus surgery, joint replacement, and spinal fusion. If your recovery has plateaued, we can help.
He views pain as a message, not a stop sign. He builds short, personalized plans around what you need, prioritizes restoring movement and building strength alongside pain relief, and doesn’t push long-term commitments.
Yes. Almost every first appointment includes a full consultation, a movement assessment, and treatment that same day. In rare cases, something turns up during the exam that needs a different kind of provider. If that happens, we won’t treat that day. We’ll refer you to the right person, fast.
